So I just got home from watching the Bob Marley documentary “Marley”. I can’t even begin to describe how powerful and inspirational this film was. You not only learned about him but you received general knowledge of the history of Rastafarianism, Afro-centrisism, Reggae, Ska, Emperor Haile Selassie I, and other African cultures. Usually when you watch a documentary you learn about the person or event, but with Marley, the audience was given a greater gift. My brother and I sat and just embraced the legend of Nesta Marley and I learned things about him I never even knew (knowing me that’s a big deal considering I’m an adoring fan). Fun Facts: Bob had 11 children within 7 different relationships, He was born in St. Ann’s Jamaica with his mother and only saw his white English father a handful of times, Bob was not popular to African Americans before he became a household name to white Americans. This Friday May 11 marks the anniversary of Robert Nesta Marley’s death at the young age of 36. I’m more than glad I was able to experience his life and soul and I highly recommend it to anyone. I’m definetly purchasing it as soon as it hits the shelves. Goodnight and Jah bless
